The Queensland islands are among the worlds leading tourist attractions and in Australia they are the most popular holiday destination in the country. Virtually any time of the year you will find a continuous flow of tourists from the southern states of the country looking to relax on a tropical beach or laze the day away swinging on a hammock under the shade of a coconut tree. If you would like to join them then here is your opportunity. It is so easy to get there from anywhere in Australia. The most popular of all is Hamilton Island resort situated in the picturesque Whitsunday Passage. This resort has its own airport so you can fly in direct and enjoy some of the best island accommodation going around. Hamilton Island accommodation ranges from self catering apartments through excellent hotel style accommodation through to some absolutely fantastic resort style rooms in the Hamilton Island Beach Club or at Qualia resort. Other Whitsunday resorts include Hayman Island resort and Daydream island resort. Further north in the tropics and accessible from Cairns are Dunk Island and Lizard Island. These two resorts are both operated by the Voyages company who have a great reputation for running quality island resorts. Fraser Island is located a little further south and this is a world heritage listed wilderness area of huge proportions. It is the largest sand island in the world and features magnificent rainforests, never ending beaches and crystal clear lakes. It lies at the southern end of the Great Barrier Reef and it is only a short flight to Lady Elliot island which is a true coral cay situated right on the reef itself. There is so much variety to choose from in the Queensland islands that you will need a bit of time to decide where is best for you.
